About Me

I was born and raised in South Louisiana, where talking is music and language is fluid. I have been a writer for as long as I can remember, and have been developing my writing style for twenty years. I graduated from Louisiana State University in 2009 with a BA in English, concentrating in Creative Writing, where I studied under Andrei Codrescu, Moira Crone, and James Wilcox. From there, I joined an editorial team at Dig Magazine in Baton Rouge, where I steered the Arts & Entertainment section into celebrity interview territory, while paying close attention to elevating local art & music. It was in the Dig newsroom that I picked up my first photography skills. Later, I joined freelance teams for 225 Magazine, Country Roads Magazine, In Register Magazine, and The Advocate.

In 2014, I relocated to Denver, Colorado and joined the freelance team for DiningOut Denver & Boulder, by-proxy DiningOut Miami, and their sister magazine, Savoring the City. My husband and I founded our photography business, JXC Photo, in 2015 and have been photographing weddings on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains since then. I frequently visit South Louisiana and for some reason, I love to write stories while on vacation there.

My here-and-there skills include writing training manuals, copywriting, blogging, developmental/structural/grammatical editing, and content writing. I also write album reviews on occasion and EPK content for musicians.
